According to the data obtained by the Tourism Databank, the tourism statistics center, from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of tourists coming to İzmir from abroad increased by 30 percent in the January-March period of 2022, reaching 227 thousand. The city hosted 176,000 tourists in 2022.
Number of tourists by market
Germany took the first place in the number of foreign tourists coming to İzmir in the three-month period of 2023 with 38 thousand. It was followed by Iran with 8.3 thousand and U.K with 8.1 thousand. Germany and U.K which passed the year 2022, but Iran decreased by 10%.
