Tourist Overnights in Turkey Hotels in 2022
According to the data compiled by the Tourism Databank, the tourism statistics center, from the accommodation statistics of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in the 7-month period of 2022, hotel overnight stays in 63 of the 90 tourist-sending markets in Turkey exceeded 2019. 27 of them did not reach 2019.
Total overnight stays in hotels in the January-July period of 2022 increased from 118 million in 2019 to 130 million. In this period, foreign tourist overnight stays approached 75 million from 70 million. Domestic citizen overnight stays also increased from 46 million to 56 million.
Sources of overnight drop and increase
27 Sundays, which did not reach 2019 in overnights, made 10 million fewer nights in total. 58% of this decrease was due to Russia and 14% to Ukraine. China and Saudi Arabia followed them.
In overnight stays, 63 markets last year made 15 million more overnight stays in total. 21% of this Development came from England and 14% from Germany. They were followed by Poland, Iran and Kazakhstan.
