Package tour competitors Spain and Turkey are recovering fast in 2022. The hotel occupancy rates of the two countries showed an increasing trend in the first 3 months. However, in April, Turkey declined compared to March, while Spain rose.
Occupancy in 2019
Compared to March, Spain’s hotels increased their occupancy rate from 46% to 56% in April. In the same period, occupancy rates in Turkey decreased from 40% to 31%.
While Spain recovered according to the 2019 level, Turkey lagged far behind 2019.
Situation in Antalya and Belear hotels
On the other hand, the occupancy rate of Balearic hotels, which are in competition with Antalya, increased to 63.4% in April after March. The area was 42% full in 2019.
During this period, the occupancy rate in Antalya hotels decreased from 35.1% in March to 33.4% in April. The occupancy rate in 2019 was 42.5%.
