According to the data obtained by the Tourism Databank, the tourism statistics center, from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of tourists coming to İzmir from abroad increased by 108 percent in the January-December period of 2022, reaching 2.15 million. In 2019, İzmir hosted 1.97 million tourists.
Status by market
During this period, the number of foreign tourists visiting İzmir increased by 110% and reached 1.46 million. On the other hand, the number of citizen tourists coming to İzmir increased by 104 percent and reached 691 thousand.

In the 12 months of 2022, the highest number of tourists came from Germany with 530.7 thousand. The second market was England with 158.6 thousand. Netherlands followed with 99.9 thousand tourists. Poland, France, Iran, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Austria took their place in the top 10 markets.
