The debate on the use of residences for touristic purposes in the EU has started

In the EU, touristic residences are required to be more strictly inspected on the grounds that they create unfair competition. Hospitality industry employers European umbrella organization HOTREC wants the approval of the new law that will tighten housing conditions for touristic use in the European Union. On the other hand, the Spanish Tourist Accommodation Confederation (CEHAT) announced that it supports HOTREC. HOTREC had warned of the dangers of the expansion of this sector, in the context of which touristic housing has been discussed for quite some time. The organization said that unfair competition, undeclared tax revenues and especially the pressure on the real estate market continue today and emphasized that the issue continues to be the biggest concern of employers in the accommodation sector.
