What will be taken from the New Generation-Next Generation fund?
The Canary Islands will receive 332 million Euros from the Next Generation, which is involved in tourism projects for the development of a sustainable and durable tourism model. The region will make investments with ten programs to be carried out until 2026. The project also includes the digital transformation of destinations and companies. The Canarian government established an Administrative Unit to manage the funds.
Support from the EU to the Canary Islands
The Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands will receive a total of €332.8 million from EU Next Generation funds for the period 2021-2026 for the development of ten programs aimed at improving the islands’ tourism destination. The Provisional Administrative Unit (UAP) was established for the management and control of European funds.
What are the aims of the project?
The projects aiming to develop a sustainable and resilient tourism model will include: Digital transformation of tourist destinations and companies, increasing competitiveness through the development of the touristic product, strengthening the trade and tourism sector of the Canary Islands.
