According to Eurostat figures, the number of workers who could not go on vacation due to lack of money in Europe during the pandemic period exceeded 38 million. Among those who could not take a vacation, the working class of Greece, Lithuania and Romania took the first place by population.
38 million workers could not afford a vacation
In the analysis made by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) based on Eurostat figures, the share of the total population who cannot afford a holiday has increased in more than half of the EU member states since 2019. An estimated 38 million people couldn’t afford a vacation.
How many workers could not go on vacation?
The ever-increasing cost of living and inflationary pressures emerged as the main cause. In 2020, 839,732 in Bulgaria, 191,654 in Denmark, 4,601,587 in Spain, 176,986 in Finland, 613,049 in Croatia, 373,660 in Lithuania, 21,702 in Luxembourg, 178,163 in Latvia, 65.324 and 3,925 in Malta ,812 people could not go on vacation. Italy (8 million people), France (4.1 million people) are among the countries where the highest number of workers cannot go on vacation.

Eurostat rakamlarına göre Pandemi döneminde Avrupa’da parası yetmediği için tatile gidemeyen işçi sayısı 38 milyonu geçti. Tatil yapamayanlar arasında, nüfusa göre, Yunanistan, Litvanya ve Romanyalı çalışan sınıfı ilk sıraları aldı. Avrupa Sendikalar Enstitüsü’nün Eurostat rakamlarına dayanarak yaptuğı anaizde 2019’dan bu yana AB üye ülkelerinin yarısından fazlasında tatil yapmaya gücü yetmeyen nüfusun payı arttı. Tahminen 38 milyondan fazla kişilik bu kitlenin tatile parası yetmedi.
