According to the data obtained by the Tourism Databank, the tourism statistics center, from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of tourists coming to İzmir from abroad increased by 125 percent in the January-September period of 2022, reaching 1.75 million. In 2019, İzmir hosted 1.62 million tourists.

The number of foreign tourists visiting İzmir increased by 123 percent and reached 1.2 million. Izmir hosted 1 million foreign tourists in 2019. On the other hand, the number of citizen tourists coming to İzmir increased by 130 percent and reached 531 thousand. Izmir received 593 thousand tourists in 2019.

In the 9 months of 2022, the most tourists were from Germany with 438 thousand (2019: 333 thousand). The second market was England with 132 thousand (2019: 105 thousand). It was followed by the Netherlands (2019: 68 thousand) with 83 thousand tourists. Poland, France, Iran, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Austria took their place in the top 10 markets.
