In the four-month period of 2022, the rate of female employment in tourism in Turkey increased. The share of women increased in all sub-categories of tourism, including accommodation. The highest rate was again obtained in the aviation sector.
Number of women working in tourism
According to the calculations made by the Tourism Databank, the tourism statistics center, from the SGK data, the number of female workers working in tourism rose by 27 percent in April 2022 to 445,000. The total number of employees in the tourism sector increased by 14.6% and exceeded 795 thousand. The number of female workers working in the accommodation sector also increased by 34.5 percent. While the increase in female employment was 27.5 percent in the F&B sector, it was 11.7 percent in travel agencies. The increase in aviation was 2.8 percent.
